About the airports

Cap-Haïtien International Airport

Cap-Haïtien, HT · America/Port-au-Prince

Cap-Haïtien International Airport (CAP), also called Hugo Chávez International, is Haiti's second airport and, since November 2024, the only one US airlines are allowed to use. It sits on the coastal plain just south of the city, a few minutes from the historic center and about 20 km from the Citadelle Laferrière and Sans-Souci Palace at Milot. The airport was expanded in 2013 to take Airbus A320 and Boeing 737 aircraft on international flights, and it now carries the bulk of Haiti's traffic with the United States: Sunrise Airways from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Boston and Newark, and American Airlines daily from Miami starting November 1, 2026.
