Cheap flights to Haiti in 2026: what "cheap" really means now
A teaser fare to Haiti is not the price you pay. Here is what a ticket to Cap-Haïtien actually costs by month, why Sunrise and American differ, how our service fee works, and the three ways families overpay without noticing.
Search "cheap flights to Haiti" and you will see pages built for 2019: Port-au-Prince fares, JetBlue and Spirit logos, a number with an asterisk. None of that is bookable in September 2026; Spirit itself ceased operations on May 2, 2026. Port-au-Prince is closed to US airlines through March 2, 2027 under FAA NOTAM A0046/26, Cap-Haïtien is the airport that works, and the real cost of a seat depends on which of two airlines you fly, what month you travel, and how many bags you check. This guide gives you the numbers as we see them in our own search results, dated September 7, 2026, so you can judge a "deal" for what it is.
The only price that matters is the total
A ticket to Haiti has four parts: the base fare, government taxes and fees, the airline's bag charges, and, if you book through an agency, that agency's service fee. Sites that advertise a low number are quoting the first part only. We show the total, taxes included, on every result before you enter a name, and our service fee is listed as its own line. Compare totals, never headline fares.
What a seat to Cap-Haïtien costs, month by month
Indicative one-way totals, taxes and our service fee included, booked three to six weeks ahead, as of September 2026. These are indications drawn from our route pages, not quotes; the search shows live prices.
| From | Low season (Sept to early Dec, mid Jan to June) | Peak (Dec 15 to Jan 8, July to Aug) |
|---|---|---|
| Miami or Fort Lauderdale | from about $400 | $500 to $580 |
| New York or Boston | $550 to $600 | $690 to $870 |
| Atlanta, Orlando, Philadelphia (via Miami) | $600 to $650 | $750 to $940 |
Peak fares run 25 to 45 percent higher than low season, and the last two weeks before Christmas are the most expensive days of the year to fly to Haiti. Fèt Gede (November 1 and 2) and Carnival (February) also push prices up for a few days on either side.
Sunrise versus American: why two prices for the same route
Sunrise Airways is the Haitian carrier that has flown the US to Cap-Haïtien market continuously since November 2024. It is usually the cheaper base fare from Fort Lauderdale, New York (Newark until October 25, 2026, then JFK from winter 2026) and Boston, and it includes one 23 kg (50 lb) checked bag on international fares. The trade-off is frequency: routes run a few days a week, and if a flight cancels the next one can be two or three days away.
American Airlines starts daily Miami to Cap-Haïtien service on November 1, 2026. Its fare is often a little higher on the Miami nonstop, but it flies every day, connects on one ticket from New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Orlando and Montreal, and includes one 50 lb bag on every fare except Basic Economy. If your date is fixed, that reliability is worth money.
Live fares for both are on our Miami to Cap-Haïtien, Fort Lauderdale to Cap-Haïtien, Newark to Cap-Haïtien and Boston to Cap-Haïtien pages.
Our service fee, in plain numbers
Jetvala charges a service fee on top of the airline's price: $59 for the first passenger on an international ticket, $15 for each additional passenger on the same booking, capped at $199 per order. It is shown as a separate line before you pay. It covers the work an airline site will not do for you: a human on WhatsApp in English, Kreyòl or French, help when a Sunrise schedule changes, refund filing when an airline cancels, and rebooking in the same conversation. If you cancel within 24 hours of booking, at least seven days before departure, you get everything back, fee included.
Three ways families overpay
Buying the bag at the airport. Sunrise charges $40 for the first extra bag, $65 for the second and $115 each for the third and fourth, and refuses any single bag over 32 kg (70 lb). American charges $100 extra for a bag between 51 and 70 lb. Weigh at home; a $30 luggage scale pays for itself on the first trip. Our baggage guide has every airline in one table.
Booking the wrong week. A Tuesday or Wednesday departure in the second week of January can cost 40 percent less than the Saturday before Christmas on the same route. If your dates can move by a few days, move them.
Chasing the cheapest headline. A Basic Economy fare through Miami with no bag and a tight connection is rarely cheaper than a Sunrise nonstop with a bag included once you add the suitcase and the risk of missing the connection in winter weather.
When to book
For Christmas and New Year, buy by mid October. For summer, by early May. For Fèt Gede and Carnival, six weeks ahead. Outside the peaks, two to four weeks ahead usually finds a good fare. Sign up for fare alerts on our deals page and we email you when a route you care about drops.
The honest part
Haiti is under a US State Department Level 4, Do Not Travel advisory, updated July 10, 2026. The north has been calmer than the capital, which is why airlines fly there, but the advisory covers the whole country. We would rather you read it before you book than find out after. Our Haiti flight status page has the current picture, the NOTAM number and the date we last checked. Start your search on flights to Haiti, or message us on WhatsApp and we will find the fare with you.
