Haiti flight deals calendar: when fares drop and when to book
Month by month, when flights to Cap-Haïtien are cheapest, which weeks to avoid, how far ahead to buy for Christmas, summer, Fèt Gede and Carnival, and how to get a fare-drop email from Jetvala.
Fares to Haiti move with the diaspora calendar more than with anything else: Christmas, summer, Fèt Gede and Carnival fill the planes, and the weeks in between are where the deals live. This calendar is built from the seasonality behind our route pages as of September 2026, on the Cap-Haïtien routes from Miami, Fort Lauderdale, Newark and Boston. It is a guide to timing, not a quote; the search always shows the live price.
The year at a glance
| Period | Fares | What is happening | Book by |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mid January to mid June | Low season | Carnival (February, dates vary) adds a short spike | 2 to 4 weeks ahead; 6 weeks for Carnival |
| Mid June to August | Peak, 25 to 45 percent above low season | Summer school break, family trips | Early May |
| September to mid December | Low season | Quietest weeks of the year; Fèt Gede (November 1 and 2) adds a short spike | 2 to 4 weeks ahead; 6 weeks for Fèt Gede |
| December 15 to January 8 | Peak, 25 to 45 percent above low season | Christmas and New Year | Mid October |
Two patterns hold on every route. Tuesday and Wednesday departures are cheaper and calmer than Sunday and Monday, and the last two weeks before Christmas are the most expensive days of the year to fly to Haiti, in any direction.
Why the "deal" often is not one
A low headline fare on a comparison site is usually one of three things: a Basic Economy fare with no checked bag (Sunrise includes one 23 kg bag; American charges $45 to $50 on Basic Economy), a two-ticket connection through Fort Lauderdale where a delay strands you, or an old Port-au-Prince page that cannot be booked at all while FAA NOTAM A0046/26 is in force through March 2, 2027. Compare the total with the bag you actually need. Our guide Cheap flights to Haiti in 2026 walks through the arithmetic.
What changes on November 1, 2026
American Airlines starts a daily Miami to Cap-Haïtien flight. For fares that matters in two ways: Miami gets a second carrier, which tends to hold prices down on the days both fly, and every American city that connects through Miami (New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Orlando, Montreal) gets a one-ticket option every day. Sunrise stays the only nonstop from New York, Boston and Fort Lauderdale, with its New York flight moving from Newark to JFK after October 25, 2026. Watch the November and December fares from Miami closely; the first weeks of a new route are often where the best prices appear.
How to get the drop before everyone else
Sign up on our deals page. We email fare drops on the Haiti and Caribbean routes, seasonal reminders (mid October for Christmas, early May for summer) and travel updates such as NOTAM changes. No spam, and you can leave with one click. If you already know your dates, search now and book when the total is right for you; fares to Haiti rarely fall in the final two weeks before departure.
Peak-season rules that save money
Fly out before December 15 or after January 8 if your family can wait a few days. Travel mid-week. Weigh your bags at home: an extra bag at the airport costs $40 to $115 on Sunrise, and a bag over 32 kg is refused. Book the return at the same time as the outbound so both legs are priced while seats are still open. And for any fixed date such as a funeral, prefer the daily American schedule once it starts, because a cancelled three-times-weekly flight can cost you two days.
Search flights to Haiti, read the complete guide, and keep Haiti flight status handy for the current NOTAM and the date we last verified it.
