How can we help?

Short answers to the questions we get every day. If yours is not here, message us.

Booking

How does booking with Jetvala work?

You search, compare airlines with the total price shown first, enter your travelers once and pay. The airline issues your ticket and you get a booking reference you can check on the airline's own website. If anything changes, a real person on WhatsApp, phone or email helps you in English, Kreyòl or French.

Is Jetvala an airline?

No. Jetvala (also spelled Jetvela) is an independent travel agency, a ticket agent under US Department of Transportation rules, operated by Jetvala Travel LLC in Plainfield, New Jersey. We are not affiliated with JetBlue or any airline. The airline sets and charges the fare; we charge a separately disclosed service fee.

Can I book for my parents or family in Haiti?

Yes, and most of our customers do. Enter the traveler's name exactly as it appears on their passport, their date of birth and a phone number they will have with them. You can pay from the US and we send the e-ticket to you and to the traveler on WhatsApp. See our guide on booking for parents for the details that trip people up.

Payment and fees

What is the Jetvala service fee?

A flat fee per booking, shown as its own line before you pay: $59 for Caribbean and Canada trips, $79 for Europe and Africa, plus $15 per additional traveler, capped at $199 per order. It covers human support before, during and after your trip, and it is non-refundable, which we tell you before you pay. The full schedule is on our service fee page.

Does the price I see include taxes?

Yes. The big number is the total: airline fare, all taxes and mandatory fees, and our service fee, for all travelers. Optional extras such as bags, seats, insurance and airport transfers are opt-in and added only if you choose them. Baggage fees may apply depending on the airline and fare.

How can I pay?

Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover, plus Apple Pay and Google Pay where available. For group bookings we offer a deposit and staggered payments. We never store your full card number.

Changes and refunds

Can I cancel within 24 hours?

Yes. Bookings made at least seven days before departure can be cancelled for a full refund of the airfare within 24 hours of purchase, under US Department of Transportation rules. We honor the same window on Sunrise Airways tickets sold through us. Our service fee is refunded too when you cancel inside that 24 hour window.

What if the airline cancels my flight?

US airlines must refund you in cash for a cancelled or significantly changed flight if you choose not to travel; you do not have to accept a voucher. We handle the request for you and can rebook you at the same time. For Sunrise Airways cancellations, the airline rebooks on its next flight, which may be days later on three-times-weekly routes; we will lay out the alternatives, including Miami connections.

How do I change my dates?

Sign in to My trips and choose the flight you want to change; we show you the airline's change quote (any fare difference plus the airline's fee, if it has one) before you confirm. American, JetBlue, Delta and United have no change fee on standard fares; Basic Economy tickets usually cannot be changed. Sunrise Airways charges a change fee. Or message us on WhatsApp and we will do it with you.

Baggage

Do I get a free checked bag to Haiti?

Sunrise Airways includes one 23 kg (50 lb) bag on international fares. American Airlines includes one free 50 lb bag to Haiti on all fares except Basic Economy, which pays $45 online or $50 at the airport. Spirit includes no free checked bag on any fare. We show the allowance on every result before you book.

How much do extra bags cost?

Sunrise: $40 for the first extra bag, $65 for the second, $115 each for the third and fourth, and no single bag over 32 kg. American: second bag to Haiti $65 to $100; overweight 51 to 70 lb adds $100. Prices are per direction and are cheapest when added at booking. Our baggage guide compares every airline we sell.

Can I check a barrel or a box?

Usually yes, as a checked piece within the airline's weight and size limits (50 lb and 62 linear inches on American, 23 kg on Sunrise). Barrels are the first items left behind when a flight is full, so travel mid-week if you can and arrive early. Some airlines embargo extra pieces to Haiti and the Caribbean from mid December to mid January.

Haiti travel

Is Port-au-Prince airport open?

Not for US airlines. FAA NOTAM A0046/26 keeps US carriers out of the Port-au-Prince airspace band from September 1, 2026 to March 2, 2027, the fourth six-month extension since November 2024. Sunrise Airways has also suspended its own Port-au-Prince flights for security reasons. Cap-Haïtien is open. Our Haiti flight status page is updated whenever this changes.

Can I fly to Cap-Haïtien and drive to Port-au-Prince?

We do not recommend it. The State Department's Level 4 advisory (updated July 10, 2026) specifically warns about the roads into Port-au-Prince, and the Route Nationale 1 corridor has seen armed roadblocks. Some families do it with trusted drivers and local knowledge; read our ground travel guide first and make your own decision with current information.

What documents do I need to fly to Haiti?

A passport valid for your stay (US or Haitian), $10 in cash for the tourist fee if you are entering on a foreign passport, and your green card if you are a US resident returning on a Haitian passport. Children with one parent should carry a notarized consent letter. Airlines also need your Secure Flight details (full name, date of birth, gender) exactly as on your passport.
